What Can I do to Improve My Reception?

What to do if you're REALLY in the boonies!

You will find that our service works fine in most areas, but if you find yourself in a sparse coverage area, there are a couple of things you can do...

  1. Get an indoor antenna. This is the easiest solution because it doesn't involve putting a hole in your roof.

  2. If you want a more permanent solution with better reception, I'd recommend buying two of these antennas. You can use one of these glands to help put the wires through the roof. You'll also need a couple of these adapters to make the connection between the antennas and the router. These antennas are magnetic, so if you put a piece of metal on the roof, they stay quite nicely. Here is a photo of this type of installation. As you can see, this is simply a piece of metal from Lowes, painted, and used Dicor to attach it to the roof.

  3. If you need even more, you're getting into directional antennas. These are normally only needed in areas of high congestion where there are tons of other RVers clogging up the towers. They allow you to find a tower farther away that not as many people are using and connect to it.

  4. Once you get to this point you're finally thinking about cell boosters. 99 times out of 100 you will not need to go this far.
